ILLUMRA Announces Partnership with EPA’s ENERGY STAR® Program

ILLUMRA Self-powered Wireless Controls announced today a fundamental commitment to protect the environment by becoming an ENERGY STAR partner. ILLUMRA, through its voluntary partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR Program, will work to improve energy efficiency and sustain green initiatives. ILLUMRA offers a complete line of self-powered, wireless controls, including switches and occupancy sensors. Utilizing energy harvesting technology, ILLUMRA makes installation eco-friendly by eliminating additional wiring, battery waste, and unnecessary finish work.

ILLUMRA provides wireless controls that install quickly, making it simple to implement energy saving control systems in hospitality buildings, schools, and other commercial buildings. ILLUMRA believes that strategic energy management systems will help enhance the financial health of businesses and organizations and aid in preserving the environment for future generations.

“ILLUMRA is committed to protecting our environment and this partnership with Energy Star illustrates this commitment to specifiers, contractors, and building owners,” said Colby Gibson, Sales and Marketing Manager for ILLUMRA. “ILLUMRA products make otherwise inefficient new and existing buildings energy efficient which increases profitability.”

In partnership with ENERGY STAR, ILLUMRA will:

  • Develop and implement plans consistent with the ENERGY STAR Energy Management Guidelines to achieve energy savings;
  • Help spread the word about the importance of energy efficiency to our staff and community;
  • Support the ENERGY STAR Challenge, a national call-to-action to help improve the energy efficiency of America’s commercial and industrial buildings by 10 percent or more;
  • Highlight our achievements with recognition offered through ENERGY STAR

“Environmental responsibility is everyone’s responsibility – and today I’m pleased ILLUMRA Self-powered Wireless Controls is taking this motto to heart,” said EPA Administrator Stephen L. Johnson. “By making smart energy choices, ILLUMRA is helping improve our nation’s energy and environmental outlook.”

About ENERGY STAR

ENERGY STAR was introduced by EPA in 1992 as a voluntary, market-based partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency. Today, the ENERGY STAR label can be found on more than 50 different kinds of products, new homes and commercial and industrial buildings. Products and buildings that have earned the ENERGY STAR designation prevent greenhouse gas emissions by meeting strict energy-efficiency specifications set by the government. In 2007, Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR, saved about $16 billion on their energy bills while reducing the greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 27 million vehicles.

About ILLUMRA

ILLUMRA Self-powered Wireless Controls is the largest supplier in North America, of self-powered, battery-free, wireless lighting control and energy management systems, and a member of the EnOcean Alliance. All ILLUMRA products operate using the EnOcean protocol, thede facto standard for energy-harvesting wireless controls. EnOcean technology allows energy harvesting ILLUMRA transmitters to operate indefinitely without the use of batteries. The motion of a switch actuation, light on a solar cell, or other ambient energy in the environment provide power to ILLUMRA transmitters, providing zero-maintenance wireless devices. The ILLUMRA product line includes multiple products which operate in the uncrowded 315 MHz band offering greater transmission range than other wireless technologies and minimal competitive traffic.
