Cabinet and furniture lighting has a wiring problem. LED strip lights and puck lights look great inside cabinets, closets, and display cases — but controlling them usually means either running low-voltage wires to a wall switch, hiding a battery-powered remote that gets lost, or using a motion sensor that turns on when you don't want it to.

ILLUMRA's kinetic wireless button is a different approach. It's a small, self-powered disc that mounts directly on the cabinet, furniture piece, or nearby wall. Press it, and it generates enough energy from that single press to wirelessly signal the LED controller inside the cabinet. No batteries to change. No wires to route. No remote to misplace.

How It Works

The kinetic button uses energy harvesting — a miniature generator inside the button converts the mechanical force of a press into a small electrical pulse. That pulse powers a 902 MHz transmission to the LED controller. The controller receives the signal and toggles the lights on or off.

The button is a 3-inch diameter disc with a clean, minimal design. It can be surface-mounted with adhesive on the cabinet face, the wall beside the cabinet, or on the furniture piece itself. Custom face printing is available for branding or labeling applications.

Key Technical Details:

• 902MHz wireless protocol with EnOcean kinetic energy harvesting technology (also available in Bluetooth BLE 2.4GHz)
• 3" diameter surface disc with adhesive mounting
• Custom printable face available
• No battery! Powered entirely by the press action
• Compatible with our 5A fixture controllers
• Rated for hundreds of thousands of operations

The Product Line

Surface Disc Button

3" diameter, adhesive mount. Primary SKU for cabinet and furniture lighting. Clean surface-mount design with optional custom face printing.

Embedded Button

Small form factor designed to be routed or drilled into furniture. Flush-mount for a built-in look. Custom engraving available.

Door Jamb Switch

Kinetic sensor with probe for door and drawer hinge areas. Detects open/closed state — lights turn on when the door opens, off when it closes.

Why Cabinet Manufacturers Care

For cabinet and furniture manufacturers, the challenge isn't just making the lighting look good — it's making the control reliable and low-maintenance once the product ships to a customer. Battery-powered controllers mean warranty calls when batteries die. Wired switches complicate installation for end customers. Motion sensors add cost and aren't always appropriate.

A kinetic button solves these problems at the factory level. The button can be pre-installed on the cabinet during manufacturing. The LED controller is pre-wired internally. When the cabinet arrives at the customer's home or showroom, the lighting system works from the first press — and it keeps working for decades without any maintenance.

Applications

Kitchen Cabinets: Under-cabinet and in-cabinet LED lighting controlled by a disc button on the cabinet face or nearby wall. No fumbling for remotes or phone apps — just press the button.

Closet Systems: Walk-in closets with LED strip lighting that activates from a button at the closet entrance. The door jamb switch version can also trigger lights automatically when the door opens.

Display Cases & Retail Fixtures: Museum cases, jewelry displays, and retail shelving with accent lighting. The embedded button version mounts flush for a clean, integrated look.

Bathroom Vanities: LED mirror lighting and vanity cabinet lighting controlled by a waterproof-compatible surface button. No electrical switch needed near wet areas.

Office Furniture: Desk hutches, credenzas, and storage units with task lighting. The disc button mounts on the furniture surface for intuitive, one-touch control.

Hospitality Millwork: Hotel room built-ins, minibar cabinets, and headboard lighting. Battery-free buttons eliminate maintenance across the property.

For Furniture Hardware Distributors

ILLUMRA's kinetic button product line is designed for channel distribution through furniture hardware suppliers. The buttons ship as standalone components that pair with BLE-enabled LED controllers already in the market. For distributors serving cabinetry factories across North America, the kinetic button adds a wireless control option that their customers are increasingly asking for — without the maintenance liability of battery-powered alternatives.

White-label and custom branding options are available for distribution partners who want to offer the kinetic button under their own brand.

Getting Started

Whether you're a cabinet manufacturer looking to integrate wireless controls into your product line, a furniture hardware distributor exploring battery-free switch options, or a designer specifying lighting controls for a custom project — ILLUMRA's kinetic button platform provides the simplest path from LED lighting to reliable wireless control.
